S**t got real on the For The Love Of Ray J Season 2 reunion when Cocktail from season one showed up. She was there to warn Mz. Berry about Ray J being a whore and that she should not take his statement about wanting to be in a relationship seriously. When it comes to the greatest female entertainers of our generation, there are a few names that come up. Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Rihanna (which I don’t understand why). However, with the Beyonce explosion coming and hitting us hard in the late 90’s and never stopping, most people automatically give her the crown. Does she deserve it? She is a hard working woman however, that is something I have to question because not too long ago there was another very popular R and B songstress who was always on people’s minds and hearts. Sadly, she passed away right as her legend status was beginning to be aflame. I am speaking of Aaliyah. (more…)

I have never seen “The Black List” or heard too much discussion about it but after seeing a preview for the newest volume 3, I will be tuning in. The Black List is a documentary series that focuses on African American entertainers, politicians and public figures and the issues they faced while being Black during their career. I especially love the clip below which features Whoopi Goldberg. She discusses how Hollywood and others tried to mold and change her into what THEY wanted her to be so that she could “represent” and how she resisted it from day one, yet still was more than successful. Hollywood actor Russell Crowe and singer Beyonce Knowles will star in a remake of classic movie A Star Is Born.The “Gladiator” star Crowe is the new favorite to play an aging, alcoholic musician who mentors and falls in love with a younger female star, reported contact music.com.The film was a big screen hit in the 1930s and it has already been reworked twice, with Judy Garland and James Mason in 1957 and Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson in 1976. Nick Cassavettes is on board to direct the film.

Nick Cassavettes, what were you thinking? The last thing the world needs is another Beyonce film. I like Beyonce as a performer. She commands the stage effortlessly and is able to sing live and still sound like the record. A feat that not many artists of today can accomplish without the auto tune effect. She is an excellent singer, dancer and songwriter. But for the love of everything holy please stop giving her lead roles in major films. The girl cannot act. (more…)

My girl Jill Scott has caught a lawsuit. Her record label Hidden Beach is suing her for skipping out of her six year contract. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by L.A.-based Hidden Beach Records on Feb. 3, claims that the label and its founder, Steve McKeever, helped launch Scott’s career and nurtured her into a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter but was unceremoniously dumped in October after a 10-plus year relationship. “Hidden Beach is shocked by her decision not only because Scott has apparently chosen to leave the Hidden Beach family,” the complaint reads, “but also because Scott is contractually required to deliver three more albums to Hidden Beach.” (more…)

Beyonce is scheduled to be back in court. According to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, the apparel maker claims it lost more than $500,000 because clothing company Donna Loren LLC and shipping outfit HJM International were “conspirators who induced the shipment of goods to the United States with the intent to convert them or pay less than the agreed upon contract price,” says the source. Ladies, can you remember being in your freshman health class and they separated all of the boys from the girls to have the “special talk”? The one where they discussed your vagina and all of its exciting mechanisms. Can you recall the awkwardness you might have felt in that moment? I can. I can even recall the uncomfortableness of my teacher when explaining the dynamics of the vagina. Unfortunately there still is a lot of women who carry this same awkwardness about their sexuality and vagina on into their adult life. So much so, that they are unable to tell a lover their likes or dislikes and end up laying their like an old ass flat pillow because they are not fully enjoying the moment and are too ashamed to voice those feelings. As hard as I try, I am unable to get into the Robin Thicke and Nicki Minaj song. It is not because I think Nicki Minaj is an sub par rapper. It is because the song doesn’t sound like Robin Thicke’s style. I get that artists have to sometimes step out of the box to grow and also to reach a wider audience but seriously, what the hell was he thinking on this one? He is too sexy for this s**t. I even liked his song “Shooter” with Lil Wayne but this sounds cheap and not up to his caliber. I expect more from Robin. I want that old thing back.
