I Do….. Nah! I Tattoo!

There is a trend among celebrities and people in general where they feel that when you are in a relationship, in order to seal your love for each other you should get a tattoo of the other person’s name.  Instead of getting married and letting the world know that you are committed to each other, it is thought that  a tattoo better represents that commitment.  Huh? I say if you have to get one at least wait till after you have said your I do’s. That of course does not guarantee that you won’t regret the tattoo later, ( look at Nas and Kelis) but at least you won’t look as stupid getting your husband’s name on you rather than your boyfriend’s.  No matter how pseudo the relationship may be, you have to give credit to  Nick and Mariah for waiting until they took the big leap before they got tatts. Most recently I have seen Jermaine Dupri with a big ass tattoo of Janet Jackson’s face on his chest. Keyshia Cole also has her boyfriend of a few months name tattooed near her shoulder.

Maybe I am a bit old fashion but I can’t imagine having my boyfriend’s name tattooed on me. It seems like a cheap and childish manner of expressing commitment.  This mark will be on you forever. Unless you plan on having painful laser surgery to remove it. I figure if you and this person know that you will be together forever then why not just get married. Wow, there’s a thought. Yeah, marriage. Remember that? You know when you exchange vows and promise to be with each other for the rest of your life. Seems a lot less painful than getting needled up for love. Personally, I don’t think that it is ever a wise choice to get a significant others name tattered on you.

On a side note, I am especially upset at Keyshia Cole. She is always singing about getting her heart broken and learning from those lessons. An act like this makes her loose all credibility. What exactly did you learn? In fact, wasn’t she just with Jeezy not too long ago? She hasn’t even been with this new man for a couple of years and she has branded his name on her. At least Jermaine and Janet have been dating for 5 plus years.  Keyshia Cole  is stupid. Yeah I said it. She is stupid. She is stupid for choosing to go the ghetto love route and get a tattoo rather than a ring. Why not? You obviously have your minds made up that you are going to be together forever after only a few months so don’t half ass it. Make it official.

   I think the whole idea of tattoo-ing your significant others name or image on your body is absurd…I think by now wer should all now that relationships come and go..including marriages (U.S. divorce rate is over 50%) I say ..buy some jewelery , go get a t-shirt or a mug made up with your names or photos on them, or go take some professional photographs…. and call it a day

   I must say Keyshia Cole looks ridiculously happy.. she is absolutely glowing with the joy of being in love. Love in itself is such a powerful emotion, how can you blame people for doing something as crazy as getting a tat for the one that gives them such a high? I know when I’m in love I feel giddy & have the butterflies in my stomach… I glow & people notice it. They say, “Are u in love cuz girl u are glowing!” LOL.. and all I can do is smile like a litle girl. So,,, with that being said. I agree with u. 100%. It would be much better & intellectually-wise smarter to get a ring instead of tat. That was a good statement. But I’m sorry to say that it’s not that simple. When u first fall in love u are not in your right mind. Which can explain why some people get tattoos for someone they haven’t been with that long. I guess u can call it Crazy In Love.. lol.

   I like how Beyonce and Jay-Z got their tatoos. At least if they don’t work out, IV is still symbolic to their birthdays.
