I Needed More From MJ’s “This Is It”

This Is It You might think I’m hating but…I saw MJ’s movie This Is It this weekend and at the risk of sounding cheesy I have to say “was that it?”. I know that the theme of the movie was about his last rehearsals in preparation for his final concert but for some reason I expected… More. Now, don’t get me wrong, I did like the few instances where we saw a glimpse of Micheal’s personality and his normal everyday behavior. It made him look more human and less impalpable. However, I found my self bored with the other instances where he was discussing details and the actual rehearsal. I suppose I would have enjoyed seeing more of the human side of Michael and not the superstar that we always see. Somehow I was under the impression that we would see some home video footage of him based on what I was told by someone who obviously was wrong. I would have preferred to see those because it would have made the connection to him more real. I also have to remember that the rumor is that he did not want the video footage of his rehearsals surfacing. Although, I do not know how true that is.

I hear many people say that they loved the movie which is what enticed me to see it. However, I think that even in death, especially in death, someone of Michael’s caliber in the entertainment business would never receive a true clear eye of judgment. After all he is Michael Jackson. Our deceased King Of Pop. Fans do not want to say anything negative about him. MJ fans are more loyal in his death than when he was alive. The movie made $101 million worldwide in its first five days opened. In summary, I would have loved to see more instances of Michael being Michael rather than Michael preparing to be superstar Michael Jackson. Let the debate begin.

  1. I loved seeing how a genius put together a show, with other talented people. To see Michael’s dedication to excellence but clearly enjoying the process for the most part was very refreshing to me. To hear all those great songs I was constantly moving in my seat. I was in the theater, and there were little girls, probably 10-years old. They went into the aisle and started to do the Thriller dance with MJ. If that’s not magical, I don’t know what is.

  2. Frankie Kate says:

Hmmm, i dont know LJ, i enjoyed it. i think it showed that he was dedicated to his craft. he wanted to “put on a show” for his fans and you could see that he wasnt just making a comeback for the money, he wanted the world to know that he was still there and that he still had the moves. He can do know wrong in my book. by the way, i didnt see the weak frail man that ppl were saying that he was. now that i saw the movie, it made his death seem even more shocking and unexpected.
