Tyler Perry Sued In Jesus Name

Director of coonery Tyler Perry is being sued over his usage of church songs in Madea Goes To Jail. According to TMZ The suit claims Perry pilfered a verse from Bertha James song “When I think Of The Goodness Of Jesus” and used it in “Madea” — specifically, “incorporating the entire Chorus in a monologue delivered by the main character in ‘Madea” referencing her deliverance from a jail sentence and leniency for repetitive criminal conduct, in a staged court proceeding presided over by ‘Judge Mabeline.’” Wow, that was a mouth full. Bertha’s estate is also suing Lionsgate Entertainment and wants unspecified damages for copyright infringement.

Now, I am not the biggest Tyler Perry fan as I feel that some of his movies, although have improved, still have one dimensional characters and can be quite coonish. However, yes there is a however, I am not knocking on the man’s hustle. He is a Black man that came from nothing. I wonder did the estate of Bertha approach Perry first for compensation before suing hm? You know how it is once you come up. Everybody wants their piece some way, somehow. On the flip side, I also wonder why Perry did not CYA (cover your ass) and assure that all ends were tied to prevent a law suit? Perry pops out movies like I pop gum so maybe that was the reason for him not thinking to do so.

Anywho, here is the scene that has everybody in an uproar
