Damn Rihanna. I never knew she had Daddy issues. Like so many other women, Rihanna has a complicated existent/nonexistent relationship with her Father. She claims that they barely speak. Which is interesting since when the incident with her and Chris first occurred he was one of the first people to open his trap to the media so that he could get some greenbacks. He was talking about how she needed to come home etc.. Had me fooled. Here I was thinking he was a concerned Father. Turns out he just wanted to catch his cut. It all makes sense now though because Rihanna did state that her Father would beat her Mother when she was a child. When asked about her feelings towards him she had this to say:

And when reports surfaced recently that the Barbadian beauty’s dad has been trying to reconcile with his daughter recently, RiRi said:

“That sounds very strange to me, seeing as I’ve been the one trying to reconcile with him forever…He has my number.”

The two fell out after Rihanna’s dad, Ronald Fenty, was drunk while on tour with her and he created an even larger gap between the two when he spoke out to the media about the Chris Brown incident back in February. RiRi explains:

“He kind of did something that was really upsetting. He turned his back on me and went to the media. He got paid to talk about stuff – all these little interviews he was doing after the whole situation in February. I hadn’t spoken to him and he was speaking as though we did. It was so disappointing to me.”

Before that, Ronald upset Rihanna with his behavior on tour and she asked him to go home, not realizing that it would cause such a long rift between the two:

“He disrespected some people on the bus and I didn’t like that, so I kind of just let him go back home. I didn’t think it was going to be a thing where we weren’t talking to each other. I just thought: ‘You just need some time away right now…’ Every time I tried to call him after that, that was it. I contacted him on numerous occasions – father’s day, his birthday – and just nothing.”

Rihanna now says that the ball is in her dad’s court and there’s nothing else she can do.

“I haven’t heard from my father in over a year. I try though, I reached out to him. I did my part. Now it’s on him.”
