This is why I write what I write. I want to touch urban people of all ages to open their minds and perspectives up. The urban culture has its beautiful qualities but it also has its poison that has ruined some of us mentally. This little Black girl in the video thinks she is not beautiful because she is not light skin. Self love starts at an early age. However, it has to be engrained in our youth otherwise they will look to images on TV and in things like a Gucci Mane vidoe for self esteem and self understanding.

i agree and also know that we as black people need to stop perpetuating this on ourselves. The most hurtful "compliment" I have received repeatedly from black people is one telling me I am pretty for a dark skinned girl. The fact that this was said with the utmost sincerety and meant to make me smile speaks volumes for the brainwashing that has gone on in our community.
