Damn Nas. In late January, Kelis asked a judge to hold her estranged hubby Nas in contempt for refusing to pay child/spousal support. On Friday (February 19), Nas attorney appeared in court, entering a not guilty plea on his behalf.
According to TMZ, Kelis’ lawyer alleges that the rapper owes Kelis more than $200,000 in both child and spousal support, as well as attorney fees. When the news broke last month, she claimed Nas had stopped paying her as of December 1st.
A hearing is scheduled for next month. If Nas is convicted, he could face jail time. I do think that Nas should have to pay Kelis, but the amount is ridiculous. No child needs that much money to live. Especially as an infant. As far as the spousal support, Kelis is entitled to that but not the ridiculous amounts she has been granted. Come on now, you were not even married to the man for five years. I think her greed is showing in this. She is trying to make sure she is going to be right when that new album does not do so well here in the states. Maybe I’m not enough of a money hungry chick. I so wanted these two to work things out. Guess that will never happen now.
