You Might Think I’m Hating But….

So, if you know me personally, in which most of you don’t. You would know that I love Marvin Gaye. Actually I am semi-obsessed with him but that is a discussion for my counseling sessions. Moving on! Not only was the man talented he was extremely sexy. The crazy part is that he seemed to get more handsome the older he got. However, like most artistic individuals he had a tortured soul that led to him abusing drugs, divorcing from his wife and ultimately loosing much of his money he had accrued over his career.

A man with such a dynamic life deserves to have a biopic doesn’t he? Of course he does! Word on the street is that Cameron Crowe, director of Jerry Maguire is set to direct the movie about Marvin Gaye’s life. Okay, sounds good so far. They have already secured the rights to his music. An added detail that will undoubtedly make the movie connect more with the audience and fans of Marvin’s music like myself. The movie is set to have Terrence Howard starring as Marvin. Oh okay… What the hell! Wait what?! Terrence Howard? You Might Think I’m Hating But….What in the hell?

Howard is not a bad actor but I would expect someone with a little more range to be up for a part with so many character facets. Can Terrence pull this off is the question? I am not totally convinced that the Hustle and Flow dude can do Marvin justice. Not to mention, the fact that many of Howard’s roles have been very similar. He never really has had to stretch himself in my opinion.

We will have to wait to see how this one plays out. Meanwhile, I will be on the edge of my seat…..
