The reasons why web series are becoming increasingly popular are the very antithesis of the studios in the budgets can be way less, younger (experience, not age) performers can get shots at resume-building parts and writers can do just about anything that they want to. The 6-12 minute running time means both a condensed watch and better options for those that want to sneak a peek while at their cubicles. The best part about a web series is that if it grows in popularity, especially since Gossip Girl, networks will jump at it and bring it offline. I really don’t see a minus in this formula.
