If you haven’t heard, NBC has a new series starring a Black couple as exciting undercover world wide spies. Yeah, you heard right. They are Black. Since there are very limited series with African Americans as the lead roles on TV, I find this very exciting. The show is titled Undercovers and stars the damn good looking Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha Raw. The show centers around a couple who were once spies but retire and settle into a normal family life. However, they are asked to come back to complete a mission, thus bringing them back into the world they thought they left behind.
I will be tuning into this for two reasons. One being that the show was created by JJ Abrams, the creator of hit shows like Lost and Alias. The second is because the show centers around an African Americans couple. Networks think that African Americans are unable to hold a cross cultural mainstream audience attention. I don’t think there has been a sitcom since The Cosby Show with an all Afircan American cast that made a splash into mainstream. I could care less if this is an African American version of the movie Mr. And Mrs. Smith. I want to help this show be a success. Perhaps if it is, networks will invest in more African American centered sitcoms and we can see more people of color on prime time.
Will you be tuning in? You should. The show premiers on Sep 22nd at 8/7 central on NBC. Check out the preview below.

I caught the end of the premiere, but I surely will be watching this week. If for no other reason, BORIS.... com'on... lol. And together they make a sexy and intruiguing couple... I give it 2 thumbs and a couple of big toes up!
