Religious folks and followers of Bishop Long, please forgive me for my candor but I am inclined to believe that Bishop Eddie Long did indeed have a sexual relationship of sorts with the various young men in question. I am leaning towards believing their accounts because of one simple reason. The Bishop has to yet to fully deny any of the allegations. He has yet to explicitly use the words “No I did not do it”.
Could Bishop Long Have Reached The Pinnacle He Has In Church As An Openly Gay Male?
Instead he has been quoted as saying ambiguous statements like “I am not the man being portrayed on television,” and “I’m going to fight this,” Neither of the two are a clear and a direct response to the question as to whether these allegations hold any truth to them. This cowardly play with words leads me to believe that he does indeed have much to hide. In fact the only time that he ever directly addressed the allegations is when he made this statement through his lawyers saying that “the charges against me and New Birth are false,” This to me was not a denial, rather another cheap attempt at word play this time by his lawyers. Also, why do you need your lawyers to deny the allegations for you unless you are worried about committing perjury?
If a man with so much to lose, such as a wife, a church filled with a loyal flock, and a reputation for being a loyal man of God was publicly accused of such immoral acts, and he did not engage in any of them; one would assume that he would vehemently deny them. He would be filled with so much passion and rage at the same time for someone even suggesting that he would sink to a level beneath his code of honor. Instead Bishop has made it a habit since these allegations surfaced for him to hide behind bible scriptures; compare himself to the story of David and Goliath, and to avoid answering the question with an incontrovertible response. That response being the word “NO”. A man who was falsely accused of these acts that many religious people find deplorable would have said a resounding “NO”. His complete and total denial would have been heard from the church pulpits to the heavens themselves. Every chance he got he would tell the world “NO”.

However, a man that has been cautioned by his lawyers to not get caught in any perjurious rhetoric, since he did commit the acts, might find it more legally sound to never speak clearly on the subject. To never answer the difficult questions directly. It seems to be impossible for him to not answer the questions without prevarication.
Instead of facing the allegations head on, Bishop Long has decided to take to his pulpit and hide behind his church members for refuge. He has decided to use their devotion to him as a tool of manipulation and propaganda. He goes into these theoretical sermons about David and Goliath and how he is under attack and the congregation empathizes with him by human nature. After all, this is the man that they have helped to build the mega church with. They have contributed to his success financially, spiritually, and took every word he has preached as being the words from a man of God. It would be a hard pill for them to swallow as well, to discover that he is not who he has claimed to be for so many years. It is expected for them to loyal in his time of crisis. Bishop Long is depending on his congregation’s loyalty to him. He expects them to protect him. In this regard he is playing off their loyalty, empathy and love for him as a man of God and their spiritual leader.
Do I think that it is very possible that the allegations against Long could indeed be factual? Yes. I do not believe that all of these young men are lying on this one man. Do I think that Bishop Long will ever admit to these allegations fully? No. My advice to Bishop Long’s followers is to pay attention to the details. Do not let your love and adoration for this man make you lose your God given common sense. One thing I do know is that God is a God of common sense. He does not require that you submit yourself to being a fool for anyone. Especially not another mortal man.
Bishop Long, if these allegations are indeed false and you did not do any of them, then for God’s sake, say it.

I feel that we must all pray more than ever right now. We must pray for Bishop Long to come forward with the truth and either confirm or vehemently deny the allegations and we must also pray for these victims of the actions perpetrated against them. Although only God, Bishop Long, and the victims know the truth of these matters one thing that truly concerns me is that in Bishop Long's statement to his church he never came out and stated that he did not do it, which is enough to leave a question in anyone's mind. All I can say is that judgment truly begins at the house of God and if the righteous scarcely make it will the ungodly and the sinner appear?? We need to get things right in our churches and do it with the quickness.. let's bind up the spirit of suicide hovering over these young men. We bind the devil and his imps right now in the name of Jesus. I thank God that in His word He specifically states that" the Spirit will show us things to come." We can fool man but we cannot fool God. God has the power to expose us for what we really are and if Bishop Long is involved in things that are abominatory in God's eye sight he (Bishop Long) is no different than anyone else and should be subjected to the same legal processes as everyone else. If we ever needed to pray in life we sure do need to now, in Jesus' name! Amen!
