I like T.I. and when he first got into trouble with the law because of the weapons, I sympathized with him to an extent. He said he had the arsenal because threats were made against his life and that is a normal human reaction to want to protect oneself and your family. Although, some people respond differently to this threat. Like maybe going to the police. T.I. being a man from the streets, he thinks like a man from the street. Which means that he is accustomed to taking things into his own hands and not depending nor trusting the police.
When his second run in with the law came and he was arrested for the drugs in the car, I lost hope. How dare he put himself and his family’s well being in jeopardy yet again? It can be assumed that I am not the only person who has lost faith in T.I. A lot of his most loyal fans have responded negatively about his reckless behavior. Many of them feel as though they went through the previous trial dates and jail sentence with him. It is only natural that they be disappointed in his latest criminal activity.
Well, I think T.I. and his publicity team finally caught the message that the general public has a now tarnished view of him and decided to go for an impromptu but classic publicity stunt to get back in the public’s good graces and maybe even some brownie points from the judge .
Earlier this week, the rapper stopped a man from committing suicide. Police were trying to talk the man, who appeared to be about 25 years old, from jumping from the 22-story Colony Square Hotel when Harris “appeared out of nowhere,” Polite said. Harris offered to help convince the man that “life’s not that bad,” a proposal that police accepted, he said. The man, who was not identified by police, agreed to leave the roof to meet with the rapper.
After several minutes of conversation, he was taken into custody and transported to Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital for a psychological evaluation, he said. He was not charged with a crime, he said.
I am all about people doing good deeds but something about this sounds… Unbelievable and very staged. So T.I. just happened to be in the same area as the man who was thinking of committing suicide? What An amazing coincidence. The mere mentioning of getting to meet and talk with the rapper was enough to make the man leave the roof and forget the reasons why he even considered suicide? All of his problems in life suddenly were washed away by the sound of T.I.’s voice? This seems to me like a last minute desperate attempt to get into the good graces of the court systems who is patiently waiting to see T.I. in a few days. As if this one good deed will make up for his other transgressions. All will be forgiven and his possible jail sentence will be excused because he saved a man’s life. I might sound cynical, but it is only because this situation in itself sounds like it comes from the movies. T.I. can’t go to jail. He is a super hero. What will the community do without him?
For anyone who doubts the validity of this situation T.I. states “I’m not taking any credit. I didn’t do it,” T.I. told Cameron. “The fact of the matter is that God put me in a position and put it in my spirit to be in the position to help. I can’t take any credit for that. I didn’t wake up this morning with the intentions of going down and helping hostage negotiators talk someone down off of a ledge. I don’t think that could be in anyone’s plan of action.”
T.I. said that doubters “have every right to be critical,” but he added that he believes “sometimes life has things happen certain ways for different reasons that most times human beings can’t understand. But it’s not fit for us to understand, we just have to be here to observe.”
He also said he’s not expecting his actions to impact his upcoming court date in any way.
“I don’t expect this to have any different impact on any of my circumstances at all,” he said in the interview. “That’s not, that wasn’t my motivation.”
I’m glad you said that T.I., because chances are they are going to still lock that a** up.
