There is a reality show peaking around every corner and waiting to take over any viewer’s life when given the chance. I challenge you to channel surf, try to keep count of how many reality shows are on air, or airing previous seasons. In the wake of the increased suicide tragedies, as we take a closer look at bullying,. As reality shows have became popular, society begins to accept and glamorize inappropriate behavior, and celebrates the “Bully”.
Parents Who Let Their Kids Be Another Kids Tormentor Should Face Fines
Tracey attacks Olivia in broad daylight over a former ex boyfriend in which her relationship ended with Mikey years before he met Olivia. No one called the authorities, this was a full on assault. Tracy is a classic type “A” bully. I was suckered into watching previous shows because it made for great for entertainment. When asked, she cannot identify her issues with Olivia, and assaults her every opportunity she can get. Then there’s “The Bad Girls Club”, a group of women with anger management issues with no therapy, living in one house. “Jersey Shore”, once upon a time very entertaining, then Snooki and Angelina’s brawl made for good ratings. I can go on for days and days using examples from other shows and the bottom line is that children and young adults are being exposed to this. How can we be perplexed about what creates a hostile environment for bullying, and tell those who experience it to cope? There’s always a finger to point, parents should monitor what programs are being viewed. Another finger to point at an adult who can choose to ignore the bullying behavior directed to them, to turn the other cheek. What about pointing the finger at the media in which bullying as glamorized and celebrated? Being famous, and living the lifestyle of the rich and famous is the benefit of the work movie star or pop singer. Waking up on the wrong side of life, instead of bed, to go out and humiliate and belittle someone else should not be afforded the lifestyle of celebrities. Now I can celebrate an individual that shows some sign of progression as opposed to the WWE fiasco’s when reunited with the previous cast.
There have been more suicide reports and violent incidents where bullying has been pushed to the forefront in the media. In listening to a radio show regarding bullying in the wake of a random violent crime that ended in the death of Bobby Tillman, a Georgia teen beaten to death by party goers with no motive, bullying is more intense and violent now more than ever. As tuned into a radio show, parents were on air sharing their experiences. It was despicable and heartbreaking to hear how children are left defenseless in schools and commuting home. It was even more disgusting to find out school officials, bus drivers, and anyone who witnesses does not step in and prevent this from continuing on or report it. One parent found out his daughter with mild cerebral palsy was being bullied. Condoms were threw at her, she was spat on, as she rode the school bus home. The parent went further on to say, once he found out, intervened, he was even more angered when he saw how the bus driver allowed these passengers to control the bus. These are kids we’re talking about! Thinking back to Derrion Albert, a Chicago teen beaten in a brawl walking home from school, adults stood by and watched and captured this on video tape. Bullying is global. The presence is online through social media sites as well. As viewers of the reality shows, there is a message sent to TV execs from our living rooms. Bullying acts are entertaining and the bully is the entertainer to be celebrated. As long as shows are tuned in for ratings, we can count on this not decreasing or going away.

The truth is we do. That whole "kill or be killed" is about provoking someone into submission.
