Word on the street is that The Monique show has been canceled. Now, I am hearing different responses to the cancellation. Some are thrilled that the show has got the ax. They feel that Monique was too damn loud and that she was more like a caricature than a host. She was a stereotype to some in the way that she was a loud, Black woman. While others aren’t too happy. There already is a lack of entertainment on TV geared specifically to Blacks. Television shows where Black actors and actresses can be showcased for their talents and gifts. So, hearing of the cancellation comes as a blow. Plus, there are no other late night Black television shows or hosts for that matter.
How do I feel? Disappointed. I don’t think there should be as much celebration coming from Blacks as there currently is. I saw the bigger picture at hand. Yes Monique was loud. But she filled a void for Blacks. I did not stay up late enough to watch the show consistently. But it was not because the show was lacking quality. It was specifically for that reason alone. However, I still saw the importance in what the Monique show brought to Black entertainment. In the bigger picture Monique brought together Black actors, actresses, artists, Black directors, etc… It was a breath of fresh air to have on BET- a network that often lacks quality Black programming. Emphasis on the word “quality”. For some, it was the only time that they would even tune into BET.
For these reasons and many more, there was and still is a need for a show like Monique. Loud mouth and all. I also heard Monique’s back story. She had came a long way and I felt that she deserved the success.
There is no clear reason as of yet as to why the show was hacked. What are your thoughts on the show’s cancellation?

Kourtney you are way wrong! MoNique was more classy than most people on TV today! The image you are referring to in society is acting more like white people; like Oprah did and does! That is not helping the true images of Black Women. Black women should portray our image as the true Queens that we are, which is exactly what MoNique brings to the table. She is just too real for your liking, and your liking is programed by your, "white is right," imagery and your limited views on the royal lineage Black Kings and Queens! I am a professional writer and I want to leave you with one of my quotes for you to ponder; "When will you stop trying to fit into a society that constantly ignores you and denies your right to be?"
