Toni Braxton and her diva sisters made an appearance on Wendy Williams recently. When asked about her relationship with Terrance J (who seems to constantly be a subject of ridicule and jokes) from 106th and Park had a very snappy response.
“You know that’s not true. I think he’s a cutie but he’s young; he’s 12. He doesn’t have no money. Sorry.”
Well damn! I did not expect that from Toni. who knew she was so cold blooded? In my Rick James/ Dave Chappel Voice. Obviously she is and will get heat from this comment as it gives a certain gold digger appearance to her persona. However, are there some women who can understand Toni’s point? She is a woman who has had a certain level of success in her career. Sure she might have filed for bankruptcy but she has appeared to have snapped back and has always blamed her filing for bankruptcy as a means of protecting her assets when she was in a financial tug of war with Laface Records and not her actually being broke per say. At any rate, I would love to know what the ladies have to say about dating a younger man who may not be as fiscally successful as you. Is it ever a wise decision? Can it truly work? What if he truly loves you and you love him? Are there exceptions to the rule? I ask that because, although Terrance J has not been in the game long, he himself has already admitted to being financially savvy. Having admitted to accumulated an account with at least one million dollars during his short career. That is more than some people twice his age can claim. He deserves some type of credit but I guess he still gets no love from Toni.
I tend to not fault Toni for her preference because it is just that; her preference. Now, could these set of preferences prevent her from finding true love? Possible. However, I think Toni may be fearful of dealing with another man with less money than her as she has also admitted that she was the bread winner in her marriage to her ex-husband and that led to issues between them. I guess Toni says damn that. Ain’t no more free meals around here for folks with a penis.
Thoughts?

What a shallow thing to say. She could have just said he's too young. She did not need to insult him by saying he's 12. I don't get it, Toni. Especially from a woman who has been through bankruptcy how many times now?
